Climate Change’s True Scale In One Graphic

This week, everyone seems to be ‘showing their stripes’.

Here’s a visual representation of Egypt’s average temperatures.  Each stripe represents a year from 1901 to 2018 and was produced by climate scientist Ed Hawkins.

It intends to be an accessible way to communicate the current climate crisis.

As you can see, Egypt’s hot desert climate is being enhanced. Temperatures are rising but the negative knock-on effects of this are what is most important.

Individual actions can make a difference, especially when many unite do do these actions collectively. More about this to come.
